About Me
Hi! My name is Ben Corbeil, I’m 27 years old, and I make stuff. I am a Permit with IATSE 873 in Props, and I am currently working in the film and television industry making props. I grew up in Ottawa and moved to Toronto to pursue my passion of props and costumes as well as to attend Sheridan College in the Advanced Special Effects Makeup Prosthetics and Props program. In the third semester of the program, I completed a 100 hour work placement with Backbone Engineering doing final finishing of prop parts and final prop assembly. As of the completion of my placement, I have worked at Backbone doing the same things and learning much more, worked at Deville’s Workshop making molds, casting, and other prop making tasks, Masters FX sculpting, molding and casting a large creature for Netflix, and multiple projects at Weta Workshop. I love learning about new techniques, processes, and materials. Growing up, I loved making movies with my brothers and friends; since then, my interest in film and television as a whole, has grown into a specific passion for props and costumes and the stories they tell. Most recently moved to Wellington NZ to pursue a job in film.
